Limited Purpose FSAs: Combining HSAs and FSAs
If you have a high deductible health plan, you can enroll in both a Health Savings Account (HSA) and a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Before you meet your deductible, your Health Care FSA covers dental and vision expenses only – we call that a Limited Purpose FSA, or LPFSA.

Key takeaways from this infographic
If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) and enroll in a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), your FSA is limited to dental and vision expenses until you meet your deductible.
After you meet your deductible, your Health Care FSA covers all eligible expenses including medical, prescription, dental and vision expenses.
If you’re a ConnectYourCare participant, you’ll receive one card to access both your HSA and your Health Care FSA. Your card is smart. Your online account and the mobile app are smart, too. They pull funds from the right account at the right time.
