Gary Baker drives ConnectYourCare’s strategic corporate development, corporate finance and accounting functions. As Chief Financial Officer, he heads the company’s financial, compensation, accounting management, financial reporting, and planning and analysis functions.
Gary has over thirty years of diverse experience in accounting, analysis, and business advisory capacities with a wide variety of clients, including multi-national manufacturing, national transportation companies, health care operations, financial industry services and professional services organizations. Additionally, Gary has extensive experience as a financial strategist with the nation’s leading insurance companies. Most recently, he was CFO of United Healthcare’s Southeast Region. Previously, he was Corporate Controller with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Maryland (now CareFirst BCBS). While there he was instrumental in the acquisition of CareFirst, the development of other managed care entities and the re-capitalization of the company. Earlier in his career, Gary was Senior Manager with Ernst & Young where he focused on the healthcare insurance industry.
Gary is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. He has held several professional leadership positions, including on the Executive Committee of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. He is also past President of The Baltimore Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants. Gary has also been active in civic matters, having served as President of the Exchange Club of Baltimore and Treasurer for The Child Abuse Prevention Center.
Gary Baker attended Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland, from which he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting. Since that time, he has earned his credentials as both a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and as a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
